ABOUT

Who are We?  Why are We Doing This?

We have been married for 27 years, but were most challenged during our parental journey when our daughter was in treatment.  The toughest part is that we felt so alone and struggled finding resources and direction. At times we needed professional help,  but there were other times, we just needed some reassurance things were going to be OK.

Once engaged, we found there were many other parents who also needed help.  As a result, we have spent dozens and dozens of hours talking with other parents, who were so grateful for our engagement.  To help and make sure you aren’t alone, we decided to launch a podcast and coaching business.  As Certified Parent Coaches, we are trained and here to support you.

We hope the resources Parents Journey offers help you along your journey.

Hi.  I am Audrey.  I know my parents were struggling just as I was.  I am so glad Parents Journey exists so parents have more support in one place.  Listen to this video to hear more.

COACHING

What is coaching and how is it different than therapy or consulting?

Coaching is the partnership between coach and client where the client has areas in their life they want to change/improve and the coach empowers the client to find their own best answers, as well as holding them accountable to their goals.

Therapy typically works on looking at the past and the root causes of mental/emotional issues.  Coaches support clients focusing on the present and future and the positive changes they can make.

Consultants typically present clients with solutions and involves specialized expertise rather than helping clients find their own solutions.

Empathetic Coaching & Guidance

We are proud to offer coaching to parents who need support and guidance.

We understand what you are going through and can provide an ear, guidance, resources and/or connections to help make your journey a bit smoother.

What’s different about us?  We are parents who:

1.  Have a child who battled mental illness.

2.  Benefitted from parent coaching when we were struggling ourselves.

3.  Trained and certified as parent coaches from the JAI Institute and Parent Coach Trainers Academy.

4.  Have a male voice, which works well with both female and male parents.

Our plans are reasonably priced and typically consist of a series of weekly one hour video calls. In addition, we offer tools and methodologies we have learned and developed that can be applied to your specific situation.

I went through battles with depression and found myself away from my family for all of 2018 to get better.  I certainly struggled, but now have the confidence and tools to live my life more happily and fully.  I look forward to sharing my perspective with parents.

We help change the lives of struggling parents. This is why we do this.

Lori and Andy provided a wealth of information about how to navigate this troubling turn of events our daughter’s situation was taking.  They are two of the biggest-hearted people I know and they gave us SO much good advice with equal doses of empathy and openness.  While our daughter’s journey isn’t over, we will always be grateful to the Goldstrom’s who stepped up and in at a time we were truly lost!

          Donna
          California

When we were at our wits’ end, Lori was very reassuring, explaining all about Education Consultants, transport, and Wilderness Therapy programs in a way that made so much sense. She was a calm voice of reason, helping turn an impossible situation into one where there were not only answers, but a bright silver lining.  It also helped to talk to Audrey, who was quite open about her experience.
